The UAE’s capital city is markedly different from Dubai. We embark on the 90-minute drive to Abu Dhabi and are rewarded by a visit to the magnificent marble-clad Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. Intricate mosaic tiling and artisanal glass work are highlights. Then it’s on to the Heritage Village, which gives an idea of Emirati life before the oil boom. A panoramic tour of the Abu Dhabi Corniche and its impressive structures, is followed by lunch. On our way back to Dubai, we swing past Yas Island, home of Ferrari World and the city’s Formula One circuit.
